Getting There and Parking:
Getting to Mill Creek couldn’t be easier. From the center of Moab, drive south on US-191 for about a mile, then take a left onto Powerhouse Lane. The road will lead you straight to the trailhead.
Heads up: parking can be a bit of a circus. The lot is small and fills up fast, especially on weekends. If you roll in late, you might have to park along the road, but space there is pretty limited too.
Description of the Landscape:
The second you step onto the trail, it’s like you’ve walked into a desert oasis. Picture this: red rock walls stretching up toward the sky, cottonwood trees providing just enough shade, and the sound of running water guiding you along. The trail winds through a mix of sandy paths and rocky patches, all hugging the creek.
The real highlight is a gorgeous waterfall and swimming hole halfway in. The water is cold, refreshing, and perfect after hiking under the desert sun. Keep an eye out for petroglyphs carved into the rocks too. They’re a quiet reminder of the history that lives here.
Trail Difficulty and Length:
The trail to the waterfall is about 1.5 miles round trip, and it’s not too tough. It’s a bit rocky in places and you’ll cross the creek a couple of times, so wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet. The crossings are part of the fun, though.
