Gifts for Off-Roaders and Overlanders That Actually Get Used

New for the 2026 holidays. Shopping for someone who lives off pavement? These are the gifts I would put in a rig. Many of these go on sale for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so check the price before you buy. Order by mid-December so it arrives in time.

I spend a lot of time off pavement. The Burr Trail. Dispersed sites in Grand Staircase. Muley Point above the Goosenecks. Out there, the right gear isn’t a luxury. It’s what gets you home.

That makes off-roaders easy to shop for, if you know what to get. This list comes from my full buying guides on jump starters, compressors, power stations, fridges, awnings and winches. I grouped it by what each gift does.

Short on time? Here are my top picks.

Gifts That Get Them Home

1. NOCO Boost Plus GB40, Best Everyday Jump Starter

A dead battery at a remote campsite is a real problem. The GB40 puts out 1,000 amps and handles gas engines up to 6.0 liters. Spark-proof clamps and reverse polarity protection make it hard to use wrong.

It’s small enough to live in the glovebox. This is the gift I’d give almost anyone who drives dirt roads.

2. WOLFBOX 3000A, Best Two-in-One

A jump starter with a built-in air compressor. 3,000 amps peak, and the compressor reaches 160 PSI, enough for any truck or SUV tire.

One tool that covers a dead battery and a low tire. Good for smaller rigs with limited space.

3. Viair 300P, Best Compressor for Smaller Tires

Airing down helps on the trail. Airing back up is what gets you home on pavement. The 300P clamps straight to the battery and is rated for tires up to 33 inches.

It needs more breaks than bigger units, but for stock or lightly built rigs, it does the job.

4. MORRFlate TenSix PSI Pro Gen2, Best Compressor for Big Tires

This is the compressor I recommend most. With the four-tire hose kit, it takes a set of 35s from 10 to 40 PSI in under five minutes.

For someone on big tires, this is the gift that makes airing down painless.

5. Garmin inReach Mini, Best for No Cell Service

Most good campsites have no signal. The inReach Mini sends texts by satellite, shares your location and can send an SOS.

It needs a satellite plan to work. For anyone who camps alone off the grid, it’s worth it.

Gifts for Camp

6. Jackery Explorer 300, Best Small Power Station

It weighs 7 pounds. 293Wh is plenty for phones, a camera and a laptop on a short trip.

It works with solar panels too, so it keeps going on longer trips.

7. EcoFlow RIVER 2 Max, Best Mid-Size Power

512Wh, 1,000W output and about 13 pounds. It charges from a wall in about an hour and takes up to 220W of solar.

The battery is rated for 3,000+ cycles and has a five-year warranty. A sweet spot between size and power.

8. Alpicool C20, Best Compact Fridge

No more soggy food in a cooler full of melted ice. The C20 holds about 25 cans and cools down to -4°F with a real compressor.

Made for rigs where space is tight.

9. ICECO VL35ProS, Best Overlanding Fridge

This is the fridge I’d put in most overlanding rigs. 35 liters, a Secop compressor with a five-year warranty, and it runs as a fridge or a freezer.

A big gift, but one they’ll use on every trip.

10. Kammok Crosswing, Best Awning

It deploys in about three seconds and has no support poles. Instant shade in the desert, or a dry spot when it rains.

An awning changes how camp feels. It’s the difference between hiding in the car and actually hanging out.

The Big Gift

11. WARN VR EVO 10-S, Best Winch for Most Rigs

If they don’t have a winch yet, this is where I’d start. 10,000 lb pull rating, IP68 waterproofing and synthetic rope.

Make sure their bumper can mount a winch before you buy. If it can, this is a gift they’ll have for years.

How to Shop for an Off-Roader

Check their rig first. Tire size matters for compressors. Bumper fitment matters for winches. Fridge size depends on how much room is in the back.

If you’re not sure, a jump starter or an inReach is almost never wrong.
